ORLAND PARK HOUSE REMODEL

The family found and fall in love with a 1990 Tudor-style house in Orland Park, Illinois. Growing up in this neighborhood, this couple envisioned this space serving as a purpose to bring their big families together when they started the project. Now, this house has become a home for this couple and their three little ones.

The design started with the center and came back to the center. It aims at bringing a connection to all the space together by creating views. The design pointed to the dining area as the heart of the home, and then connecting everything around it. The mission was to bring the family and friends closer through thoughtful architecture and interior spaces. We believe in creating spaces that not only physically connect people, but also leave a warm and lasting memory in time.

Opening up the floor plan led to the creation of two arch openings and square thresholds. These act as subtle focal points for each space, seamlessly blending into the overall walking experience. To keep things cohesive, we covered the square thresholds with white ash wood veneer, tying the natural element from the floor to the vertical spaces.

A bit of tasteful existing history, paired with a bit of new punch through the old.
