We are a Chicago-based architecture firm with a diverse collection of backgrounds, experience, and interests. Our approach focuses on a project’s context to uncover opportunity. Whether through critical design thinking, supporting adaptive solutions, or refining materiality – each project aims to find solutions that produce an inspired, meaningful and composed result.

  • STEVEN KARVELIUS, AIA

    PRINCIPAL

    Steven is a licensed architect in the State of Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa. He received a Bachelor’s of Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology where he was also awarded the Henry Adams Medal. Steven brings technical knowledge from his experience working on a wide range of projects throughout his career including multi-family housing, higher education, and commercial build-outs.

  • ELLIOTT RIGGEN, AIA

    PROJECT LEAD

    Elliott is a licensed architect in the State of Illinois, He attended the Illinois Institute of Technology and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Architecture. Elliott has a rich work experience with a focus on implementing detailed craft and construction on small scale cultural, residential and commercial projects. He (unknowingly) started his architectural passion during childhood with his never-ending sketching. He enjoys music, working on old cars, and getting his hands dirty.

  • ANNABELL REN, NOMA

    DESIGN LEAD

    Annabell attended the Harvard Graduate School of Design where she received her Master’s degree in Architecture and Urban Design. She is an adjunct professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology teaching architecture design studios. Annabell is now dedicated to bringing her passion of art and people into the design process.

  • MORIAH ADAM

    DESIGNER

    Moriah attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo where she received a Bachelor’s in Architecture and minor in dance. Moriah has experience in exhibition work, single-family residences, multi-family housing, and large commercial projects. She is interested in the social and cultural implications of the built environment. In her work, she strives to curate spaces that promote equity and foster community. In addition to art and architecture, she enjoys modern dance, exploring Chicago, and her many houseplants.

  • SARAH KAY STEPHENS

    DESIGNER

    Sarah Kay graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology. She was a IIT Leadership Academy Scholar. Past AIAS Vice President. She also studied Construction Management and Policy and Ethics as a minor. Sarah Kay brings a curious mind and excitement to contribute to the team. She is enjoying Chicago's summer hot weather these days which brings her back home at Austin Texas.

  • JACKSON JANICKI

    INTERN DESIGNER

    Jackson is a 4th year architecture student at the Illinois Institute of Technology where he specializes in history and theory as well as design-build. His professional interests consist of adaptive reuse and medium-density residential projects. Jackson’s interest in architecture developed from a love of making, which he attributes to time spent with his grandfather, a retired art teacher. His architectural approach blends creativity and rationality into comfortable and functional spaces. In Jackson’s free time, he visits Chicago’s museums and escapes the city to spend time in the outdoors.

    INTERN DESIGNER

    Jasmine is a 3rd year architecture student at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Her architectural journey stems from her hobbies in structural crafting and artistic exploration. She enjoys model making after years of experience in building competitive model bridges, towers, and crane arms out of basswood. Her passion for art is demonstrated through the public murals featured in schools and neighborhoods around her hometown of Las Vegas. Therefore, she is interested in exploring how art and design can integrate with adaptive reuse strategies to impact communities and social spaces. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, kayaking, and exploring national parks.

    INTERN DESIGNER

    Sara is a 3rd year architecture student at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Her interest in architecture is deep-rooted in her passion for art, philosophy and sciences as well as her curiosity to understand the world around her. In multiple of her experimental research projects, Sara promotes equity and sustainability through social oriented design. In her free time, she enjoys painting, drawing and trying new restaurants.
