NORTH PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MURAL

North Park Elementary School is located in Lincoln Square neighborhood of Chicago and needed a fresh look on its exterior façade adjacent to the schools’ play ground. Mural was designed by New Office in collaboration with Lynsey Sorrell from Bureau Gemmell, and brought to life by artist Juan de la More Monsivais - a local Chicago muralist.

The mural aims to inspire children’s imaginations by exploring the use of shape and color. The mural is a new layer to the existing masonry wall where each element of the mural is designed to work in harmony with the geometry of the doors and windows and engage the coursing of the historic brick surface. Creating a cohesive backdrop for the school’s playground, the mural is both playful and sophisticated and attempts to bring a childlike energy to their play and social space at North Park Elementary School.

Project also included a donor wall design with simple printed applied plaques for current donors and is expandable for future donations.
