MIRA SUSHI

Chicago’s Chinatown is an active part of the city where food and culture come together to bring the neighborhood to life.

New Office was invited to design the transformation of a 3,800 SF retail space into a new Japanese restaurant. The existing space was separated into two rooms, but to merge the two spaces into one, three openings in the dividing wall facilitate movement between the juxtaposing sides. The color palette of one side features warm tones in the furniture and finishes where the sushi bar is located in the “sunrise room”. Across the central portals, the space changes to cool blue tones where the drink bar is located in the “sunset room”.

The design carefully selected finishes, lighting, and signage to further express the unique experience when walking through the portals.
