1516 W CARROLL AVE ADAPTIVE REUSE

The warehouse building has seen many iterations - and this renovation project in collaboration with Bureau Gemmell turns the existing structure into an expanded two-story building making way for new tenants and programs. The project includes a restaurant along the streetside, a café on the first floor, new innovation and test kitchens, private dining space, office space, and event space as well as a fully functioning rooftop farm.

Adding a second story to most of the building, the project expanded the existing masonry building to house all of the new uses. Guided by honest expression of the multiple years of construction and a desire to see and interact with the raw materials - the project keeps exposed many of the architectural and structural elements to become features in the many spaces.

The project also includes new vertical circulation elements, new elevator, three rooftop greenhouses, and modernization of building systems and windows.
